Maverick of Japan’s Asset Management Industry Designing Change

After graduating from the University of Tokyo's Faculty of Law in 2003, he began his career at the Nomura Capital Market Research Institute. He later joined Kogin Dai-Ichi Life Asset Management (now Asset Management One), which included a posting at their London office. In 2015, he founded Monex-Saison-Vanguard Investment Advisory (now Monex Asset Management), serving as its President and CEO until the fall of 2017. He founded Japan Asset Management Platform in May 2018.

Driven by an unfounded conviction that the future of Japan’s asset management industry depends on him, he eagerly gets involved in anything and everything related to finance and asset management—often to the exasperation of those around him.

He has a deep affection for the asset management business, Gyoza no Manshu, mahjong, and spending time with his family.

The torch is in your own hand.

He joined a major life insurance company in the thick of the "employment ice age"—the year after the collapse of Yamaichi Securities. Later, he oversaw the IPO of Treasure Factory as its Head of General Affairs, and subsequently served as a Director at both PeptiDream and Pixie Dust Technologies before joining our firm. He holds the distinction of having led three IPOs: two on the Tokyo Stock Exchange and one on Nasdaq.

As a trusted advisor to our founder, Ohara, he focuses on business development and expanding our operational foundation. In his concurrent role as Head of Administration, he is spearheading the development of our internal governance framework.

A known early adopter, he is perpetually in awe of recent advancements in AI, though he also finds them slightly terrifying. He spends his days agonizing over the question, "How can we explain our complex business in a simple way?" He is a self-proclaimed "leaky-roof watcher." His favorite words and phrases include: "First in Japan," and "First in History."

Following a career at a megabank and a securities firm, he was appointed Executive Officer of Japan Investment Adviser Co., Ltd. in 2021, where he held de facto responsibility for the management of a group subsidiary. In 2024, following the formation of a capital and business alliance with our company, he was appointed to the Board of Directors. He is dedicated to supporting our growth by leveraging his extensive network among regional financial institutions and his deep experience in the financial sector.

He prides himself on having a wide array of shallow interests, ranging from golf to deciphering ancient hieroglyphics. It’s amazing how many times this pool of half-baked knowledge and trivia has saved the day. He is committed to further honing these "skills" to contribute to our company's value and the future of asset management in Japan. His motto is: "Credit good fortune to others, and take full responsibility for your own mistakes."

He began his career at QUICK Corp., building his expertise in the financial information division. During a secondment to Nikkei Inc. and Nikkei QUICK News,Inc. (NQN), he gained front-line experience as a reporter dedicated to "communicating" financial information. Upon returning to QUICK, he leveraged this unique media perspective to engage in the development of asset management services and the launch of new business ventures.

He has been deeply involved with our company, from the formation of our capital and business alliance to the promotion of our collaborative goal-based approach wrap support service. He was appointed to our board as an Outside Director in March 2025, committing to contribute his extensive expertise to the company's growth. He is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), recognized by the Japan Association for Financial Planners.

He began his career at a major regional bank, followed by a secondment to a foreign financial institution, and subsequently worked in the Markets Division at the New York Branch. Upon returning to Japan, he served as an executive, primarily involved in the Investment Banking and Markets Divisions. After serving as President of the bank's securities subsidiary, he joined our company as an Advisor in 2022, and was appointed to the Board of Directors in May 2025. As an Outside Director, he will monitor the execution of duties by the management team while leveraging his experience as an executive at a regional financial institution to contribute to our company's business growth.

Having a wide range of experience from working at an accounting firm to serving as an Auditor for a publicly listed company, he now focuses on legal compliance and strengthening governance as an Auditor for our company. He will contribute to building a highly transparent and reliable framework to balance enhancing corporate value with contributing to a sustainable society.

Her favorite word is Kakugo (preparedness/resolve). Her favorite historical period is the Jomon period.

He graduated from Waseda University in March 2010 and joined Mizuho Bank the following month. He has been with Japan Asset Management Platform since June 2021.

Drawing on the challenges he witnessed firsthand in the client asset business, he is now on a mission to promote our platform. His goal is to improve business productivity while enhancing engagement between clients and their financial advisors. He prides himself on being the company's foremost advocate for goal-based asset management. He aims to shift the industry paradigm from a world focused solely on optimal portfolios to one that emphasizes the creation and customization of personalized, goal-based financial plans.

His special talent is keeping his wife happy. His hobby is watching Anpanman movies with his children.

After a career in derivatives and risk management at a megabank and its securities affiliate, he joined the Financial Services Agency (FSA) in 2011. As a Lead Chief Examiner, he spearheaded the monitoring of "Customer-Oriented Business Conduct" at banks and other financial institutions. Upon leaving the agency in 2020, he began searching for the financial service that best embodied these client-first principles. His quest led him to discover goal-based asset management, and he soon knocked on our door.

In his personal life, having passed his 60th birthday, he is fully enjoying his "second youth." This includes attending concerts of his favorite pop idols from back in the day and traveling throughout Japan to rediscover the unique charms of its different regions. (He is on the verge of conquering all 47 prefectures.)

He began his career at a major securities firm, where he was primarily involved in investment banking. His career progressed to include roles as a Director on the firm's board, Chairman of the Board at a major asset management company, and President & CEO of a leading think tank. From 2019, he served as Chairman of the Investment Trusts Association, Japan (ITAJ), stepping down from the position in 2023.

Since then, he has been active as a self-proclaimed "Senior Supporter," dedicated to cheering on the companies and individuals who will shape our society's future. (He notes that while he can't offer something as grand as "advice," he can certainly offer his "support"!). In 2024, to champion the ongoing transformation of the asset management industry, he joined our firm as an Advisor.

In his personal time, he is a passionate "Senior Diver" who dearly loves the seas of Okinawa.

He began his career at the Industrial Bank of Japan (IBJ), now part of the Mizuho Financial Group, where he spent 21 years engaged in domestic and international corporate finance, including a posting in London. He then served as a Managing Director at Japan Industrial Partners, and later as President of the Hiroshima Innovation Promotion Organization.

He is currently the President & CEO of Triwinds Inc., a consulting firm primarily focused on executive search and financial advisory (FA) services.
