Message from CEO

President and CEO Keiichi Ohara
In Western countries where the asset management industry is more mature, a clear division of role has been established: asset management companies focus exclusively on investment decisions and portfolio management, while specialized firms known as “Fund Management Company” handle fund structuring and administration. This functional separation enhances the productivity and profitability of asset managers, while also giving investors access to a broader range of services—a true win-win.

In contrast, the Japanese asset management industry has traditionally maintained a vertically integrated model, where asset management companies are responsible not only for managing assets but also for the full spectrum of fund operations. This structure has created high barriers to entry, limiting innovation and operational efficiency across the market. From the investor’s perspective, this stagnation in new market entrants means fewer opportunities to access diverse investment and asset management services.

At JAMP Fund Management, we aim to address this structural issue by offering Japan’s version of a fund management company service. Through this model, we support both the entry of new asset managers into the investment trust business and the transformation of business models for established firms. By doing so, we strive to advance the sophistication of Japanese asset management industry, invigorate the investment value chain, and ultimately contribute to sustainable economic growth and enhance Japan’s status as a global financial hub.
