JAMP Expands ETF Market Entry Support with Investor Communications and Digital Marketing Capabilities
Collaboration with Green Monster aims to help ETF sponsors bridge the gap between listing and investor adoption in Japan

JAMP Corporation (headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Keiichi Ohara; “JAMP”) today announced that its subsidiary, JAMP Financial Solutions Co., Ltd. has launched a collaboration with Green Monster Inc. (headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Akira Ogawa; Tse Growth Market: 157A; “Green Monster”), a Tokyo Stock Exchange Growth Market-listed company, to support investor communications and digital marketing activities for asset managers and ETF sponsors seeking to develop ETF business in Japan.

The collaboration is designed to address a key business challenge in the Japanese ETF market: ETFs do not automatically gather assets simply because they are listed. For ETF sponsors, particularly those entering Japan from overseas, product development and exchange listing are only part of the challenge. Post-listing awareness, investor understanding, product messaging and continuous information dissemination are also critical to helping Japanese investors discover, understand and use ETF products.

Through this collaboration, JAMP Financial Solutions and Green Monster will combine JAMP Group’s knowledge of Japan’s asset management industry, ETF structures, market practices and regulatory considerations with Green Monster’s capabilities in retail investor communications, content development and digital marketing.

This initiative is intended to complement JAMP Group’s ETF-related platform services, including JAMP Fund Management Co., Ltd.’s ETF White-Label Platform, which supports Japan-domiciled ETF establishment, TSE listing preparation, operational management and stakeholder coordination. By adding access to investor communications and digital marketing capabilities, JAMP aims to provide ETF sponsors with a more comprehensive support framework for entering, operating in and developing ETF business in the Japanese market.

Overview of Support Through the Partnership

Background: ETF listing alone is not enough

Japan’s ETF market has been expanding, supported by the growth of the Tokyo Stock Exchange ETF market, the expansion of NISA, policy initiatives to strengthen Japan’s asset management industry and increasing interest in active, thematic and strategy-based ETF products.

For overseas ETF sponsors, Japan may represent a meaningful long-term ETF business opportunity. Establishing Japan-domiciled ETFs listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange can allow Japanese investors to access ETF strategies through domestic brokerage accounts, in Japanese yen, during Japanese market hours and through a familiar domestic investment trust framework.

At the same time, ETF adoption in Japan differs from the U.S. market. In Japan, adviser-led ETF portfolio construction for retail wealth management remains more limited, and securities firms generally have fewer recurring sales-related revenue opportunities from ETFs than from publicly offered mutual funds. As a result, ETF sponsors should not rely solely on securities firms to drive product adoption.

For ETFs, especially active, thematic, strategy-based, derivatives-based or income-oriented ETFs, it is important to provide Japanese investors with clear and continuous explanations of the investment theme, target exposure, risks, use cases, distributions, liquidity and role in a portfolio. Securities firms, online platforms, financial media and institutional investors also require clear materials that support product understanding.

This means that ETF sponsors need more than product manufacturing and listing. They need Japan-specific investor communication, product education, information dissemination and digital awareness-building.

Combining ETF industry insight with investor communication execution

Under the collaboration, JAMP Financial Solutions will contribute its knowledge of Japan’s asset management and ETF market, including ETF product structures, Japanese market practices, regulatory considerations and the practical requirements of ETF sponsors entering Japan.

Green Monster will provide investor communication and digital marketing capabilities, including communication strategy, content planning and production, website and landing page content, articles, videos, social media content, digital advertising, financial media and influencer-related initiatives, and measurement and reporting.

Together, the two companies aim to help ETF sponsors design communication that is not merely promotional, but that enables investors to understand the ETF’s structure, investment concept, risks and use cases before making their own investment decisions.

The final review and approval of materials relating to financial products will remain the responsibility of the relevant ETF sponsor, investment management company or other party responsible for the ETF. This collaboration does not constitute distribution, solicitation, placement agency or financial instruments intermediary activity by JAMP Financial Solutions, JAMP Fund Management, JAMP Group or Green Monster.

Supporting overseas ETF sponsors entering Japan

JAMP Group views Japan-domiciled ETFs as a practical route for overseas ETF sponsors seeking to develop ETF business in Japan. Overseas sponsors may consider multiple routes, including making existing overseas ETFs available through Japanese securities firms, cross-listing overseas ETFs on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, or establishing Japan-domiciled ETFs specifically for the Japanese market.

Where domestic brokerage access, yen-denominated trading, potential NISA usability, local liquidity formation, Japanese-language product communication and long-term ETF business development are important, establishing Japan-domiciled ETFs may be a strong strategic option.

JAMP Fund Management’s ETF White-Label Platform is designed to externalize the Japan-side ManCo and operational management functions required for Japan-domiciled ETF establishment, TSE listing and ongoing ETF operations. This allows overseas ETF sponsors to focus on their investment strategies, product development capabilities, brand, portfolio expertise and ongoing investment commentary.

By combining ETF establishment and operational infrastructure with investor communication capabilities, JAMP aims to help ETF sponsors address both sides of Japan market entry: creating the ETF product and helping that product be discovered and understood by Japanese investors.

Comment from Keiichi Ohara, Founder and Group CEO of JAMP Group

“ETF sponsors are typically strongest in investment strategy, product design and portfolio management. However, in Japan, even a well-designed ETF does not automatically reach investors or gather assets simply because it is listed. This is particularly important for active, thematic, strategy-based and income-oriented ETFs, where investors need to understand the product concept, risks and use cases.

JAMP Group has focused on providing business infrastructure for the asset management industry, including ETF establishment, listing preparation and operational support through the ETF White-Label Platform. Through this collaboration with Green Monster, we aim to add an important missing function: helping ETF sponsors communicate the value, structure and risks of their products in a way that reaches and is understood by Japanese investors.

We believe this collaboration can provide overseas ETF sponsors entering Japan with a practical option for narrowing the distance between ETF manufacturing, TSE listing and investor engagement in the Japanese market.”
